After graduating in design at the Grafisch Lyceum in Utrecht, Sandra Bartels (1972) worked for years in advertising as a designer/desktop publisher. She gets her inspiration from nature and animals. Capturing the personality and expression of an animal is especially important to her She mainly works with soft pastel & pastel pencils, which she has further developed over the years. This allows you to perfectly create fur structures and nature by building it up in different layers to create a realistic detailed pasteldrawing. In 2019 she submitted her drawings for the ‘Wildlife Artist of the Year’ competition organized by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation In England. These pastel works were selected to be part of the exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. In 2020 and 2021 she again became a finalist. In 2021 she was approached to make a pastel demo for the International Artist Magazine. The pastel demo was published in the April/March ’22 edition and her pastel work “Hope” was featured on the cover of the same edition.
